Spray foam removal should be at the top of your list!

Expert Solutions for Foam Removal and Loft Conversions.

We are a new up and coming specialists in removal of expanding foam and loft conversions. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality services tailored to your needs, ensuring each project is handled with precision and care.

Back in 2023 the UK Government provided grants to insulate homes across the country with expanding foam. In May 2024, building regulations changed as they became aware of the damage that this foam can cause to the structure of your roof.

We started working for companies which provided the loft spray insulation, and we know that they are benefiting again from the removal of the damaging product that was installed. We as a company do not think this is fair to the unsuspecting home owner that took this grant out. This is why we have started this company! We will out price any of these companies that have benefitted from putting this in and now taking your hard earned money to remove it again.

Why should i have expanding foam removed from my loft/attic?

We at Loft Renovations understand removing expanding foam from your loft is not at
the top of anyone's list, however here are some reasons why you should.
The presence of foam can actually void some building insurance, it can also affect your home when you want to buy or sell a home due to mortgage refusals because of new building regulations surrounding foam.

The problems arising from foam is it can reduce air circulation and ventilation in a roof space, resulting
in dampness and condensation. The condensation forms as it creates an air barrier that prevents moisture from escaping. The condensation adds moisture to the roof timbers and joists which could result in rotting or twisting of timbers.

It is not unknown for people who have spent say, £5000 on having their roof sprayed to subsequently have to shell out 25-£30,000 for a new roof to make the property mortgageable again.

What are the challenges of removing foam?

The removing of expanding foam from timbers in lofts can be a challenging and labour intensive task, due to its strong adhesion properties.
There are many different types of foam, each requiring a unique approach. Two of the most common are open-cell, which is softer and less dense, and can be easier to remove than closed-cell. Closed cell foam
is very rigid and adheres tightly to surfaces. Without removing closed-cell foam from roof timbers can lead to a completely new re-roof.

At an agreed upon time we will meet with our clients to give a home visit to give an accurate quote for the foam removal.

Before a job begins we cover all carpets and any objects to ensure their safety.

In the attic we use scrapers and pallet knives to carefully remove foam from the corners, off the timbers and off the felt. If we spot any rips in the felt we repair those too.

All foam will be removed and disposed of correctly and cost efficiently.
After the foam has been removed we also lay new insulation over the entire floor area.

Even after completion, if necessary we will perform any remedial work. We like to look after our customers and strive to give 100% satisfaction to our clients.
